At Datta Meghe Institute of Management Studies, creativity isn’t just encouraged—it’s celebrated! On the occasion of World Creativity and Innovation Day (21st April), the Institute Innovation Council (IIC) in collaboration with the Industry-Institute Partnership Cell (IIPC) organized QUIRKATHON – The Weird Product Innovation Challenge on 23rd April 2025.The essence of this global day lies in recognizing the role creativity and innovation play in human development and problem-solving. QUIRKATHON was our way of embracing that spirit—encouraging students to think beyond boundaries and design ideas that are wonderfully weird, yet surprisingly useful.
This celebration wasn’t about logic alone; it was about imagination, curiosity, and seeing the world through a different lens. By asking students to come up with unconventional product ideas—like a pen that converts thoughts into emails or shoes that charge phones—we celebrated the belief that innovation begins where convention ends. QUIRKATHON became a platform where business minds dared to be bizarre and bold—crafting pitches, taglines, and even mock ads to bring their eccentric ideas to life. The energy, laughter, and sheer originality witnessed during the event reinforced why creativity is one of the most essential skills of the future. Through this initiative, DMIMS reaffirmed its commitment to nurturing innovative thinkers and celebrating the powerful intersection of fun, imagination, and entrepreneurship.
